Another artist I first watched at "The Jazz Cafe",
I have known Geoff Cooke since 1995 when he was backing up Edmonia
Jarrett. Geoff at that time was playing with Reuel Lubag (piano) and Tim
Turner (drums). I have watched him hone his craft over the
years to become a regular backing up "local talent" and
"out of towners". It was a pleasure to see him with the great
Ernestine Anderson (at Jazzbones Feb. 7, 2002). Ernestine's version of
Miles Davis's "All Blues" was one of the best renditions I've
ever heard and of course it all starts with that wonderful bass
line. Keith Church (The JazzDog) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bio to be submitted soon |
